Open Air Theater, San Diego, CA August 3, 1998 |
| The San Diego show was the end of "Inferno - To Hull and Back Tour". It was kind of a special show for me, and my friends who attended the first show of the tour in Bakersfield in May. |
|
| It was an extremely hot day in Southern California on this day. I made my way down from the show the night before along the coast on Hwy. 1 hoping to stay a bit cooler because of the fog. But as I drove inland to the venue the heat began to pick up. I met up with Ken and his wife AnnMarie and Mona who was also at the show in LA the night before. We all had very good seats. As the show started Ken and I managed to get up to the rail for about half the show and then the security guards made everyone go back to their seats. Well it was good while that lasted. We were so close anyway that it didn't matter too much. |

I tried to get some good pictures at this show, but only managed to get a few good shots. AnnMarie seemed to be the seasoned photographer and was able to get a bunch of good pics which are seen below.
The crowd was much smaller at this show, but still very enthusiastic throughout Dio's great performance.
Here is one of the few photos I took that is worth showing.
Another one of my pics of Ronnie.

AnnMarie got all the angles from this show!
The set:
Evilution
Straight Through the Heart
Don't Talk to Strangers
Holy Diver/Instrumental
Heaven and Hell
Children of the Sea
Stand up and Shout
Last in Line
Encores:
Rainbow in the Dark
We Rock
After the show we were lucky enough to get autographs signed and for some reason we don't have any pictures. What were we thinking?

| Joe, Mike, Mona, Ken, and the George's. I just want to say thanks again to Ken and AnnMarie for all they did for me on these last two shows. If it wasn't for them I wouldn't have had the chance to see any of the band in person at all. You guys are the best and I hope we will be able to enjoy more Dio shows in the future.
To all the people I have met at the shows and over the Internet in the past year and a half.........Thank you all for the fun we had and for all the support and pictures you have given me in putting these Dio pages together. YOU ALL ROCK! WE ROCK! |
